FINNISH HEMATOLOGY REGISTRY AND CLINICAL BIOBANK (FHRB) |
The principal aim of the project is to establish a framework and infrastructure for the systematic collection of biological patient samples and related clinical data in a format that is readily accessible for both clinicians and researchers. These objectives will be tested in a pilot project on acute monocytic leukemia.
During the first year (2011) of the project, only patients with acute leukemia or chronic myeloid leukemia (100-15 samples/year) will be enrolled to test and fine-tune the logistics of sample collection, processing and storage. Thereafter, approximately 500 newly diagnosed patients with a hematological disorder (malignant or non-malignant) aged 16 years or older will be enrolled yearly.
