What to Store?
- Blood, serum, plasma, urine, saliva, DNA, RNA, etc liquid samples - storage in liquid nitrogen vapour phase or at room temperature
- Cell samples - storage in liquid nitrogen vapour phase
- Tissue samples - storage in liquid nitrogen vapour phase (fresh frozen tissue) or at room temperature (paraffin embedded tissue)
- Micro-organisms - long-term storage for microbial cultures etc. in liquid nitrogen vapour phase
Procedure of sample storing for a previous collection:
- Familiarize yourself with our biobanking policies.
- Contact us for discussing your sample collection and more information about our storage processes.
- Check your permissions and datafiles for durability and feasibility of your barcode, container and tube solutions. Name the person in charge and the contact person(s).
- Fulfill the storage agreement, including among others, storage and shipping timetable, sample type and amount.
- When the signed agreement and the required information are returned to the Biobank, and when we have your sample list and the samples are ready for shipping, contact us for the shipping timetable so that we will receive and bank your samples safely.
Procedure of sample storing for a new collection:
- Familiarize yourself with our biobanking policies.
- Contact us for discussing your new sample collection. We will need to know your project name, sample type and amount, collection timetable, planned preprocessing of the samples (where and by whom), shipping type and timetable as well your planned access policies.
- If needed, we are happy to provide you with guidance in the regulatory issues.
- We will also inform you about the things you need to know before starting the collection, such as sample coding and storage alternatives. For example, it is very important to choose the right kind of stickers, tubes and boxes for the storage (size and durability).
- When all details are in focus and all the required permissions collected, the storage agreement will be prepared.
- When the agreement between you and the Biobank is established, we will be able to receive your samples as agreed.
