Targeted quantitative high-throughput analyses for medical applications
New analytical methods combined with bioinformatics provide a way to measure the extended metabolome. Metabolomics systematically studies the metabolome, i.e., the small molecules in cells, tissues and biofluids.
Metabolomics as a technology has been combined with genetic and genomic studies. Metabolomics is used as a quantitative phenotyping tool to complement the genetic and functional genomic study, from plant and microbial studies to large-scale efforts in the health sciences especially in medical and nutritional domains.
