RNAi Unit News

October 2011- The RNAi unit grows again. We have a new adition to our group. Dr. Päivi Östling joined the RNAi unit in September as senior researcher. The cold room is ready and we will be able to start our matrix printing in the cold soon!

August 2011- A cold-room is being built for our Aushon arrayer. When the array is installed there we will be able to better control the printing temperature of our siRNA arrays.

June 2011- Dr. Vilja Pietiäinen will start in the RNAi unit as senior researcher. Vilja will be focused on developing the image analysis tools.

The unit is currently looking for a High-throughput screening bioinformatician. You can find more information about the position here.

March 2011-The RNAi unit grows -We will soon havRNAI_ON_THE_EDGE.jpge new members in our small group. In the mean time we are testing  new printing conditions and fine tuning the transfection. Remember to visit us at the ChemBio fair, 22-24.3.2011

October 2010- Unit Set Up Continues: Testing the adherence of a variety of cell-lines to the siRNA-containing spots.  Optimizing reverse transfection efficiency for siRNAs.

September 2010 – Unit Set Up Progresses – Carina von Schantz-Fant joins the unit as postdoctoral researcher.  Carina will be focused on high content image analysis within the unit.

August 2010 – Test printing of attachment matrix, transfection reagent, and siRNA is underway.

July 2010 – Operational updates to the Aushon 2470 Arrayer are complete.  We are now equipped with new pins and increased flexibility in printing format .

June 2010 Unit Staff Expands and Laboratory Set Up Grows – Senior Laboratory Technician, Ruusu-Maaria Merivirta joins the unit.   In addition to laboratory management, Ruusu will be focused on microarray printing.
