Building Bridges Autumn 2015: Biomarkers in Clinical and Translational Research - the ABCs of Biomarkers | Biomedicum Helsinki, Lecture Hall 3

Tuesday, October 6, 2015 - 08:45 to Wednesday, October 7, 2015 - 17:15

You are warmly welcome to participate in the fourth Building Bridges symposium providing an exciting team-oriented look into biomarkers. The Building Bridge series is aimed to highlight team efforts among clinicians and biomedical researchers working together towards a better understanding of the pathophysiology of disease and improved options for patient treatment and care.

Building Bridges Autumn 2015:  Biomarkers in Clinical and Translational Research - the ABCs of Biomarkers

Date:  October 6, 2015, 8:45-17:15

Location: Lecture Hall 3, Biomedicum

The Building Bridges symposia series is arranged to bridge clinical and basic/translational research and provide examples of how teams of investigators are working together to advance personalized medicine approaches.  The 4th Building Bridges symposium, organized together with EATRIS, the European Research Infrastructure for Translational Medicine, will highlight how biomarkers are used to improve our understanding of health and disease.  We set the stage by learning about the basics:  What are biomarkers?  For what are they used?  How is a biomarker discovered?  What are the challenges in the development?  How are these needs reflected in the clinic and at the bench?  What legislation, ethical and regulatory matters need to be considered?  And, how can biomarkers enable precision medicine?  Then, with research-focused talks from clinical and translational researchers, we explore detailed examples of discovery, development, and application.

Participants:  The course is targeted both as an introduction to biomarkers as well as a demonstration of advancements in biomarker research.  As such, the events are open to the entire scientific community.  Doctoral candidates wishing to learn about biomarkers are encouraged to attend

Deadline: 26 September
