Team iCombine selected as the winner of the Hel­sinki Chal­lenge idea com­pet­i­tion

The winner of the science-based idea competition Hel­sinki Chal­lenge was announced 24 November. The prize was di­vided between two teams. An international jury selected teams iCombine and HeatStock as the winners and both will receive a prize of 187 500 euros for implementing their solution.

Team iCombine is led by FIMM Group Leader Jing Tang. The team also includes several other researchers from FIMM: Tero AittokallioEvgeny KulesskiyAshwini KumarDimitrios Tsallos and Muntasir Mamun. The other team members, Samu Kurki, Emma AnderssonOlli Dufva and Mikko Keränen represent the Auria biobank (University of Turku & Turku University Hospital) and the Hematology Research Unit Helsinki (University of Helsinki & Helsinki University Central Hospital).

Team iCombine is working on a decision support system which will enable doctors to easily search for the best possible personalised treatment for each cancer patient. The iCombine solution would speed up the process of finding the most effective treatment and reduce the costs of drug treatment.
